The Redemption in Shawshank - Part One

After watching "The Shawshank Redemption", I was moved by the profound message of hope and redemption portrayed throughout the film. The movie tells the story of Andy Dufresne, a banker who is wrongfully convicted of murder and sentenced to life in Shawshank State Penitentiary. Despite the harsh conditions and cruel treatment in the prison, Andy never loses hope and eventually finds redemption.

One of the key themes in the film is the power of friendship. Andy forms a deep bond with fellow inmate Ellis "Red" Redding, played by Morgan Freeman. Red serves as the narrator of the story and becomes Andy's closest confidant. Their friendship transcends the prison walls and provides them both with a sense of solace and support. Through their friendship, Andy is able to maintain his spirit and never lose hope. Red, on the other hand, finds redemption through Andy's influence, as he learns to believe in the possibility of a better future.

The film also explores the concept of institutionalization and its effect on the prisoners. Many of the inmates in Shawshank have been incarcerated for so long that they have become dependent on the routine and structure of prison life. They are unable to imagine a life outside of the prison walls and have lost all hope for redemption. However, Andy refuses to be defined by his circumstances and actively works towards his own redemption. He uses his skills as a banker to help the prison staff with financial matters and eventually escapes from Shawshank, proving that one can break free from the chains of institutionalization.

Another powerful aspect of the film is the portrayal of the corrupt prison system and the injustice within it. The guards and prison officials are depicted as cruel and abusive, exploiting their power for personal gain. However, Andy's determination to seek justice and expose the corruption serves as a beacon of hope. His actions inspire others to believe in the possibility of change and the importance of standing up against injustice.

"The Shawshank Redemption" is a thought-provoking film that reminds us of the power of hope and the possibility of redemption, even in the most dire circumstances. It teaches us that no matter how bleak our situation may seem, we should never lose hope and always strive for a better future. The film's message resonates deeply, reminding us of the importance of friendship, resilience, and the pursuit of justice. It is a story that truly touches the heart and leaves a lasting impact on the viewer.

The Redemption in Shawshank - Part Two

"The Shawshank Redemption" is a cinematic masterpiece that explores the themes of hope, friendship, and redemption. The film, directed by Frank Darabont, is based on a novella by Stephen King and stars Tim Robbins as Andy Dufresne, a man wrongfully convicted of murder and sentenced to life in Shawshank State Penitentiary.

One of the most powerful aspects of the film is the portrayal of hope in the most desperate of situations. Despite the harsh conditions and constant oppression in Shawshank, Andy never loses hope. He maintains his dignity and refuses to let the prison break his spirit. This unwavering hope is portrayed through the character of Andy and serves as a source of inspiration for the other inmates, giving them a glimmer of hope in their own lives.

Friendship is another central theme in the film. Andy forms a deep bond with Red, played by Morgan Freeman, who becomes his closest ally and confidant. Their friendship is built on mutual respect and support, transcending the confines of the prison. Through their friendship, both Andy and Red find solace and strength to endure the hardships of prison life. It is through this friendship that they are able to find redemption and ultimately change their lives for the better.

The film also sheds light on the corrupt and unjust nature of the prison system. The guards and prison officials are portrayed as abusive and power-hungry, taking advantage of the vulnerable inmates for personal gain. However, Andy's resilience and determination to seek justice expose the corruption and inspire others to stand up against the system. His actions demonstrate the importance of fighting for what is right and the possibility of change, even within the darkest of institutions.

"The Shawshank Redemption" is a film that resonates deeply with its audience. It reminds us that even in the face of adversity, there is always hope and the possibility of redemption. The film's powerful message of friendship, resilience, and justice is a testament to the strength of the human spirit. It challenges us to examine our own lives and question the systems and institutions that may be holding us back. Overall, "The Shawshank Redemption" is a timeless masterpiece that continues to inspire and captivate audiences with its profound message of hope and redemption.

When I had finished watching the movie,I was excited and wanted to watch it again.Wheather the figures and details or the spirit that the music conveyed to."Hope is dangerous" Red had ever said,But Andy has always sticked to it.He didn’t cry when he was thrown into prison though he was innocent.

On contrary, he found ways to kill long time to escape. He helped the head of the prison do the illegal things in order to gain some freedom. He rebuilt a library and helped the other prisoners. All the prisoners liked him, for he helped them find hope again. Perhaps it was time to escape, in a lightening and thundering night, he escaped from the prison through the holehe had dug for twenty years .

He was free eventually .I like Andy ,for his talent and his wisedom . And the most important thing that I like is his spirit—never giving up.I have never seen such an amazing film since I saw The Shawshank Redemption. Shawshank encompasses friendships, hardship

s, hopes, and dreams.

And what is so great about the movie is that it moves you, it gives you hope. Even though the circumstances between the characters and the viewers are quite different, you dont feel that far removed from what the characters are going through.

It is a simple film, yet it has an everlasting message. Frank Darabont didnt need to put any kind of outlandish special effects to get us to love this film, the narration and the acting does that for him. Why this movie didnt win all seven Oscars is beyond me, but dont let that sway you to not see this film, let its ranking on the IMDbs top 250 list sway you, let your friends recommendation about the movie sway you.

Set aside a little over two hours tonight and rent this movie. You will finally understand what everyone is talking about and you will understand why this is my all time favorite movie.

Shawshank Redemption is a film co-operated by white people and black people. It told a story about the life in the prison.

A man called Andy Dufresne, was sent into the prison, Shawshank, for he murderer his wife and her lover in bed. However, he was innocent as he said. The new days in the prison were hard to live. It’s violent, heartless and cruel. A month later, Andy began to make friends with other prisoners. One of them called Red, who could get anything what he wanted.

Andy bought a mallet from him and started his plan to escape. During this time, he did many things: expanding the library, caving stones, making tainted money for the prison governor, etc. It took him 20 years to tunnel secretly and he successfully escaped from the prison.

Before that, Andy had told his best friend Red that his dream---Zihuatanejo, a warm place without memory. After escaping, Andy lived a free life in another identity and made the prison governor arrested. Several years later, Red was approved to leave. He had lived inside for 40 years. He was institutionized. Sometimes he thought of getting back again as he didn’t belong the world, but he didn’t, for the promise to Andy. Finally, in Zihuyatanejo, they met.

It is a good film. The cruel prison life terrified me and the friendship moved me. The story goes to a happy ending---redemption.

Based on the Stephen King (non-horror) novella “Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption”, this is a simple story of hope made remarkable by the interaction between the two lead characters. Both Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman do a fine job in terms of making their roles genuine and appealing, and also in the way they work so well together.

The production values throughout are outstanding, but this is not a “fancy” film. Rather, it sticks to the story it is telling without resorting to flashy tricks to grab the audience’s attention. Although there is violence, some of it extreme, it is necessary to show the kind of place the prison is and is certainly not gratuitous.

The main theme is hope, not despair, and the violence serves only as a backdrop to that message. Unashamedly a feelgood movie, by the end one is wishing only that it would continue for a few more moments.肖申克的
